WELCOME TO VOCAL VOCAL acts as the voice of Chief Officers for Cultural and Leisure Services delivered in Scotland by local government and a range of key partners. In addition to promoting the activities of these services, as a Chief Officer’s Association, VOCAL aims to promote the development of policy and strategy, provide opportunities for networking and promote best practice. The strength of the Association is ultimately determined by the number of people who join VOCAL and work towards achieving a common set of goals. |

SALSC Announces Line Up for 2010 Conference The Scottish Association of Local Sports Councils has announced its plans for the 2010 Conference and invites members and partners to start registering for places. The 2010 Conference, entitled "Investing in the Future" will take place at the Aviemore Highland Hotel across the weekend of 13th and 14th March and focus on topics close to all the hearts of all sports councils and member clubs - attracting and applying for funding and engaging with young people. SALSC has confirmed that key note presentations will be delivered by the Scottish Minister for Public Health and Sport, Shona Robison MSP, the Chief Executive of Volunteer Development Scotland (VDS), George Thomson and SkillsActive's Manager for Scotland, Pam Scott. More attention has been given to workshops with delegates able to choose two workshops (each lasting 1 hour 30 mins) from the three on offer on the Saturday. In line with the theme of the Conference there will be workshops on: · Applying for funds: to be given by a representative from the Lottery along with a development officer with a successful record of applying; · Attracting sponsorship: given by members from the business world who will be able to advise you on what to include when you apply to business for sponsorship; · How to engage with young people: given by Andrew McIntosh form Edinburgh Leisure who has a vast experience working with young people of all ages. The Sunday will be more introspective and, after receiving positive feedback last year, will see a return of the 4 regional discussion groups with, as requested, more time allocated for getting your views across.
